It seemed fine to me, as it was the first (and only) new car I've ever had, so always been used to at least 5 digits.
9 would have been tad better as I'd loved to have seen a single digit, but it gets to 3 digits in a few days, then 4 digits quickly after that so its only ever a very fleeting thrill.
Besides, who looks down, my eyes are out of the window!

Interesting thread. I was wondering about this myself as I pick up a new car in March. Will let you all know how many miles it has. I had 15-20miles as 'too high - need to question' and anything below as acceptable.

In all honesty, I wouldn’t worry about it if the car is perfectly presented. It could be 8 on the clock, redlined repeatedly by a tech on a joyride, or 15 perfectly appropriate miles. You’ll never know. You just have to trust the dealer.

Wonder how many people actually trust their dealer?!

I had a new C Class back in 2015 which was a company lease car and it was driven up from Merc SW fleet, Exeter I think and arrived with about 550 miles on

550?! That’s a second hand car! Can’t imagine any private buyer would accept that.

That's what I thought when it arrived, and it was on a 10k a year lease!

That's the key point. When we had leased cars you'd sometimes get a '2nd hand' one, ie someone had left and there were a few years left on the lease. No one would have made an issue about 550 miles on a 'new' lease. Private buyer clearly would though.

I had plenty of company lease vehicles delivered by drivers from whichever dealership supplied them.

I think the furthest was probably easily 500+ miles.

But that's delivered to your door. If I was collecting from the dealer, I'd not be expecting someone to have popped to Lands End with it the previous day.

my one and only new car had about 15 miles on it.

My new Conversion Campervan from the dealer had 450 miles ! but I think they had driven it to the converters rather than trailered it.
