Ambient lighting
« on: 03 February 2020, 14:32 »
Hi can anyone tell me which year has  the lights on the driver and passenger doors, I dont know what it's called but its the strip that runs along under the window.

Also my son is looking for a mk7 with performance pack, manual with cloth seats, I have looked on the trader but theres not much about, where would be best to look

Many thanks

All UK spec Mk7 GTI's have that lighting.

As for where to look to buy one, its either AutoTrader or Das Welt Auto.

The latter don't sell cars beyond 5 years old I think though.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

Standard ambient lighting is one colour only (white(gtd) or red(gti) or blue (R) I think) and can’t be changed easily, if you want RGB (any colour selection) you need the ambient lighting plus pack which was hardly ever bought

Really? I've never seen that listed ever!

The only way of changing the colour I thought was to retro fit something else.

The Mk8 has full disco lighting and I thought that selectable colour thing was one of the "new and amazing" features of the Mk8 never seen before (unless you had a Mini or a Merc or a something else where its been available and no doubt unused by its owners for years)

Facelift Octavia vRS (the one with the split headlights) has it as standard. SEAT Leon FR upwards also has it.

I find it really annoying that it doesn't extend to the rear doors, looks unfinished.

I did see this about an R (about 4mins 10)- but not sure if it relates to UK/GTI models or if it also changes door lighting?

Hi Twinklestar

I’m new to the forum but not new to Golf’s I’ve had them for the last 30 years and great cars they are too.
Anyway this is a reply to your first post about your son looking for a Mk7 Gti... What is his budget as I have a Pure White Performance Pack manual If of interest?
Feel free to give me a call to discuss if it is of interest on zero 7813 zero 72299.

Now I better go and introduce myself in the newbie section.

Thanks Andy
