thank god the gti is ok
« on: 28 January 2020, 15:00 »
I have another vehicle coming up to three years old, it had a brake line recall between Christmas and new year, went in to the dealership, they removed the affected brake pipes only to find the replacements do not fit, over four weeks later and no further forward, the brake pipes provided are the right part but do not fit and the manufactures had no idea the new replacement pipes were unsuitable. The dealership and manufactures can not tell me how long it will take to resolve the issues.

Any advice welcome.

oh and the vehicle is in the dealership with no brake pipes just waiting.

Over 4 weeks!!! I hope you've got a nice loaner from them otherwise where's the incentive for them to be on the hurry up?!?!?

LOL  I hope it's a van you are having the problem with? If I took a GTI in for work and they gave me a van I think I'd end up getting arrested!!!

how can this be on such a popular car?

I would contact VW UK customer servicer ASAP

We are suspecting the issue is with a van, not his GTI..... but it hasn't been conformed yet?

Think from the title and one of the OP's replies it is his van that's the issue.

OP I would basically get in touch with V UK as the replacement vehicle is obviously the cause of the issue for you for it's intended purposes. I would make a point that it is effecting your business etc and see how that goes to get a better replacement until yours is fixed.

Depressing reading and must be incredibly frustrating.

I’m assuming you bought the vehicle new?
It seems like the factory must’ve fitted wrong components at assembly maybe? That’s not impossible with so much platform sharing in vehicles.

Aside from keeping on at both the dealer and manufacturer, possibly publicly if they have social media outlets as they won’t like the embarrassment of that, the only real recourse would be speaking to a solicitor or citizens advice. Sometimes your only option is to make a real nuisance of yourself even if you’re reluctant to ruin a good relationship with the dealer.
The manufacturer needs to be more proactive here and send one of their trouble shooting techs down from head office to investigate.
