There's a few threads and discussions on this - I agree with you, I'm not a fan of the stop/start, especially on the DSG where it tends to cut out as you slow down to approach some junctions. The restart can also take a split second too long when you need to get out at a busy roundabout too.
There are ways to deal with it - physically unplugging a cable that connects to the battery. There are also coding options via OBD/ Carista etc that can trick the system into thinking the battery is under heavy load, therefore it won't engage the stop/start. To be honest, I was going to code mine, but now I just turn off the damn thing as part of starting the car - a single button push per journey and its become almost second nature after I've put the seatbelt on...
The choice is yours obviously though.
