Question for PedalBox + owners
« on: 20 November 2019, 20:36 »
Hi

I’ve just fitted one to my dsg.
Even on city -3 the throttle is so sensitive. Driving normally I must use 5mm of the throttle. Press the pedal 1/2 down and the cars dropping 2 gears going mad !

Is this normal or am I doing something wrong ? I’ve followed the fitting instructions.

Thanks

It feels like that until your foot learns not to press so hard! A couple of days and you'll be fine. Just try not to switch the box off, it feels like your car is broken!

In my experience the City setting just takes most of the dead travel out of the top of the throttle pedal's action.  So City-3 definitely shouldn't feel as you describe.

Have you tried the adaption process in the PB+'s instructions?  I'm thinking that if there is an issue with your PB, running this may reset it to your car.

Alternatively, it may just be that you're used to large initial throttle inputs, as per Watts' advice.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I’ve tried the perfectune where you push the pedal down and the lights on the pedal box follow.

software update for your pedal box I take it for your particular engine not an engine update.

Interesting.  Did you buy the pedal box 2nd hand or new specifically for your car?

2nd hand.
Even though other owners have said their pedal box worked fine on different mk7’s mine certainly didn’t. The pedal box was set up for a Clubsport previously.
I contacted dte I presume in Germany and they were really helpful.

Cheers.  I guess that confirms there are differing PB software settings for differing cars.  Good to get definitive confirmation.

For reference, mine worked identically on 1.4TSi Trendline and 2.0 GTI Golfs - both 7.5s.

Hope you're enjoying the PB now :-)
