choke problem?
« on: 14 October 2005, 03:03 »
i know little about car stuff but when i start my car in the morning it idel`s very slow and chuggs until it gets hotter then its fine, ive driven cars with manual chokes and i feel as tho i should be pulling one out when its doing this, so im taking a wild stab in the dark and assuming that the crap ass automatic choke is buggered? does that sound right to you?

What size engine is your car and does it still have the standard pierburg carb?

Have a read of this:

Sounds to me like the coolant channel o'ring in the inlet manifold is to blame.

Hey Haribo,
If you can afford it then ditch the crappy Pierburg, and get yourself a direct replacement Weber item! (with manual choke).
If you cant afford it (like me) or want to stick with Sh'iteburg carb then read that link from rubjonny as i had same trouble with mine and i fixed it sumhow but dont know how!!!
I LOVE THE SOUND OF CARBS IN THE MORNING

fixed, i just lossened the 3 screws on the auto choke and then from dead cold while chugging i rotated it slightly until it ran better, it must have just been that that metal hook spring watchamajig inside wasnt as strong as it once was, crappy things, ide love a weber and a good old manual choke but i cant afford it
