Thanks for the info. Excuse my ignorance, I know absolutely zero on the subject.
Drive the deal looks like the best website, I’ve just been doing some reading.
Steep learning curve for me

I got I think about 8k off of my current Golf Mk7.5...

Was that for a brand new car?
[/quote]

Yes, brand new, factory order to my spec.

It came from a large VW dealership... and its on VW PCP complete with deposit contribution.

Seriously, its the way to do it.

How long does it usually take for a car to be delivered? I’ve read about 3 months.

Probably 4-6 months. Audi is the same as VW - no stock, all factory orders.

Another vote for Drive The Deal.

I bought my Mk5 through them many years ago and my parents bought their Mini through them about 5 years ago. They're a well established company.

The delivery though isn't always on a trailer. It can often be free driven delivery. If you want it delivered on a trailer this is usually extra and the cost will depend on the distance from the dealership.

Just a note of caution though re some other sites. Not all brokers offer cars where you are the first registered keeper, they can be bulk orders via a separate company.  So it is wise to check this before you order. Drive The Deal and Carwow should be fine though.

I was reading up on pre registration problems. Looks like I’ll stick with drive the deal or carwow.
Although not sure I can wait up to 6 months

The car will be out of production in six months!

There are loads of members here and on other forums who have used DtD, Orangewheels etc. coast2coastcars are very good too.

The sticking point with these brokers that tend to use fleet dept discounts are when you have an immaculate trade in as they generally won’t offer top dollar as well as huge discounts.
If you have no p/x then they’re probably unbeatable in pure £££ savings.

Carwow dealers can be useful if you have a part/ex, but don’t forget our own resident dealer Evo1986.
When considering a part/ex into the equation it’s the overall cost to change that has to be compared.

I’ve bought via both Drivethedeal (my current R) and Orange Wheels (a previous gti) and both were very very good all round.  Not only fantastic discounts (saving thousands) but great service and the supplying dealers in both cases were excellent, as it’s they who you will be dealing with after the initial contact and deposit with the broker.  If you have no car to trade then it’s a no brainer to use a broker, as you’ll get the best discount and you’ll not suffer on the part ex side of things (I sold privately so avoided the reduced p/x issue).  All the brokers mentioned in this thread have good reputations amongst enthusiasts with many many using them.  I can highly recommend DTD dealership (south) JCB Medway who have a great rep.  You can usually arrange for the car to be transported to you if you want, but if you don’t mind travelling to collect it, it’s a great way to get to know the car!
