I don't find the new Shell system good.  I always fill up from nearly empty, so before I would get 50 points for 50 litres on each visit.

Now you only get a fixed point for spending at least a tenner.  So the only way to get lots of points is to refuel virtually every day and put £10.50 in - not practical for me.  So I find it worse, as I get the same points for 50l / £65 quid as i would for £10.50.

Unless I've misunderstood something on it?

There just seems to be far more spot savings - over the last 6 fill ups, I have saved 4 times (£1.80 to £3 off each time). It used to seem like an age for the paper vouchers to arrive!

The best I can get in Northern Ireland is 97 from the likes of BP. I always use this alongside an octane booster.

Spoke to one of the techs at VW and he said they're getting quite a few MK6's in from the owners using poor quality fuel. Like others have said, performance car - performance fuel.

Momentum 99 or Shell V-Power only for me.

True, but have you also noticed that Shell have slowly been creeping the price of V-Power up to compensate since the new rewards system came in. It’s now £1.45 a litre in all my local Shell stations (versus £1.28 for normal Shell 95), where as Momentum is £1.32 a litre (versus £1.26 for normal 95).

So at £6.50 a tank extra for V-Power versus Momentum, they can afford to give more spot money away. At first I thought it was just general price rises, but the price of normal Shell 95 and diesel has generally stayed static.

Always used Tesco 99 or V Power since new. Had to put a few tanks of 98 into her in France a few weeks back but I didn't notice any difference. I did have a car full of holiday gear though so performance wasn't at the top of my list, got great MPG though.

Bring back Tiger Tokens (Esso). I used to get tons of them always volunteering to fill the works van. I even managed to get a 14" colour tv with them (thousands of points required!).
