2.0 Conversion
« on: 13 October 2005, 07:01 »
Hi.

Just bought myself a 2.0 AGG engine to put in my mk2 8v, but it's not got a power steering pump or flywheel!
Can i use the bits off my 1.8 PB, or am I going to cost myself lots of money?

Thanks for your help on this one!

Hi
i have done the 2.0ltr conversion using this engine.
you will have to fit your PB flywheel and clutch assembly as the mk3 items are different.
The mk3 items are larger and the splined shaft hole in the clutch is to big for the PB engine gearbox assuming you are using your PB engine gear box (gear box code should be AUG).

Regards the power steering the kit from the PB engine should bolt stright on to the AGG engine. I didnt fit power steering as i dont like power steering myself but i seem to remember that just about every thing on the PB block would bolt on to the AGG block.

Remeber to fit the steel head gasket for the AGG block and not the PB gasket.
There are some blanking plates or bungs to make to blank off the block breathers. I have drawings if you need just PM me wit ur e-mail.
You will also need the dizzy from a 2E code engine as the dizzy from the PB wont fit and the dizzy on the AGG is the wrong type.
An uprated front engine mount is also a must. I think the diesel ones are the ones to go for if you want O.E. but i used a vibrotechnics. Just make sure its a new one as there will be a lot more torque with this engine and as the block is 16mm higher than the PB engine the exhaust down pipes are much closer to the bulk head so any movement in the front mount might make your down pipe hit the bulk head.

Any problems just lets us know

Is the 9E the audi 2.0 8v engine, won't that be hard to find?

What happens with the exhaust apparantly i'got the manifold but not the front pipe cos that is where the cat was?

I used the mk3 breather on the block and just blanked off the hole with structural adhesive, I made my own engine mount out of hockey pucks for the front, it works a treat and allows you to adjust the height. Just use the bare block and bolt all your pb items to it and it's a straight conversion. Pair that with a TSR pack d head, extra head work, cam and zorst and its a pretty fun engine to drive
