very annoying, metalic sound at 2200 and 2800 revs...

 i had this problem with my 95 mk3 gti its was the heat shield on the manifold, but a mate of mine welded it back on for me, took him about 10 mins, didnt have to take anything off he just got under the car and sorted it, no more rattle! so it can be fixed quite easily

Great stuff !! have to say this news has cheered me up !! - I'll look into this asap - have to track down a welder.....
