Maybe a bit of a strange question...
« on: 01 May 2019, 07:37 »
Hey guys, wonder if someone could help. When I'm in the car, for the majority of the time I listen to Tune in Radio via Android Auto (as the stations I tend to listen to aren't available on FM or DAB in my area). Everything works fine except the sound is quite low meaning I have to turn the volume up quite a bit to get an acceptable sound level.

However, here's the issue, if (whilst still in Android Auto) i switch to say Spotify or Amazon music, the sound comes out really loud and I quickly need to turn the volume down. If I switch to the built in radio or music from the SD card, it's also loud. So the volume of the Radio, Media, Spotify etc. are all the same, but just Tune in Radio is much lower (i would say at least 50% lower).

I've had a look in Android auto and the Tune in Radio apps on the phone and had a root around the settings on the head unit, but can't seem to find anything that would affect this.

Anyone any ideas please ?

I've not noticed it with TuneIn (but I rarely use it) but have I noticed it with BBC Iplayer and also Android Auto when I ask for news headlines.

You have to turn the volume up on those to hear it, then if you switch back to something else you get blasted.

It's probably fixable by adjusting one of the dozen volume level settings on the phone, but which one I don't know.

Sounds like it might be a bug with Android Auto. I listen to TuneIn on Carplay and haven’t experienced that.

Some of the tunein stations broadcast at a low bitrate, but that shouldn’t impact the volume levels as much as you guys are experiencing.

What stations does it do it on? I’ll test it on CarPlay with those stations when I’m in the car this afternoon.
