Tune Golf Clubsport to same as Golf R
« on: 26 April 2019, 12:42 »
Hello,

I have a Golf Clubsport. Power is 265 bhp, 290 on overboost. From what I understand it is the EXACT same engine as Golf R. Wouldnt it be easy to just tune it to same as Golf R (300 bhp)? Instead of a "normal" tuning company that gives like 350 bhp (unreliable).

Perhaps you wouldn't even notice the difference if you remapped it to 296/306.

Sure a custom map from a tuner would do it if you really wanted though.

Yes, but I thought I would be very easy (and reliable) to "tune/modify" it to VW original....

I wouldn't bother spending money on a map I doubt you'd even notice. A stage one APR or REVO will be reliable. Stage 1 is best bang for your buck.

You could even fit a JB4 which should see 350

Ok... Is JB1 totally reliable on a Clubsport DSG?

I agree with this - Your "265ps" Clubsport is only 265 ps if you  don't tap into the full 290ps overboost for up to10 seconds. From a standstill, 10 seconds at 290ps should be enough to get you to 85-90mph. In what situation would you be wanting more than 10 seconds of full 290ps  acceleration without risking losing your license?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

The Clubsport has the same tune as the Leon Cupra 290 and mist rolling road figures I’ve seen show it at around 300PS.
It would be nice if it was possible to flash the CSS 310 tune though.
A custom mapped ECU could give you sensible power and not so much torque that the front wheels just light up all the time.

A JB1 is a good option. It’ll keep the torque to sensible levels before overboost kicks in. Power is no good if you can’t transmit it!!
