stalling and over heating

 my other mk2 keeps stalling after about 3mins of starting and only stays on if its reved, im gonna change the carb and fuel filter any other ideas what it could be, all vacums are in place

also the fan doesnt kick in untill the heater needle is over 3/4s?

What motor does it have in it?  Could be any number of things on a carb, I'd do the fuel filter first, then check the warm air feed on the air box.

If the fan kicks in at about 3/4 thats fine, as long as the light isn't flashing you should be OK.  If you're worried replace the temp sender in the radiator.
