Touchscreen
« on: 29 January 2019, 08:40 »
This morning on the way to work the touchscreen in my Mk7 GTi decided it was no longer a touchscreen. All other functions work fine but it doesn't register my touch?!?!! (Yes I took my gloves off first )

Is there a way to reset the unit? Anyone else experienced similar? I'm stuck on Radio 4

Mines started changing radionstations on its own lately.. which is nice. Or if its on sat nav screen it selects random places on the screen. Seems to something to do with the heating of the car when its cold.

I'll try rebooting - thanks. Yeah, I wondered if it's to do with the extreme of cold then heat...

Hi,

It could be the start of a reasonably common fault in the early mk7’s. Had two replaced in my old mk7 GTI and one replaced in the mrs old GTD.

Only ever happened when it was cold. VW couldn’t fault it when it went in much to our annoyance.... despite me informing them it only happened in sub zero temps. Ended up filming it and emailing them the video to prove fault.

Not sure if yours is still under warranty but if it is film it and they will replace it.

Mine did this this morning too. I guess it doesn't like cold mornings either. Turned it off and on again and it was fine.
