rear bumper question
« on: 27 October 2003, 12:23 »
Is it just the 16v that has the extra extension to the big bumper at the rear. Err (explain without pictures)....so you got the black (or mostly grey now) bumper then the colour-coded bit which the exhaust (seemingly on 8v) sits just a bit out the bottom. Whereas all the 16v I have seen recently have extra trim - a futher black section that the exhaust comes through. Does that make sense?

I must add that my old 89 16v with big bumper added back and front at some time in its life did not have the extra trim.

Although its not easy to see in that pics. I'd love to know the history of that extra bit coz I'm a wanna be golf geek :) Looks like somin from non big bumpers yet seems to be more common on 90+ models.

Sounds like you're right but it does seem like a unlikely mod to have been done on so many otherwise unmodded golfs.
