Don’t know of anyone who has. Seem to remember reading on one of the Golf forums that a small number of owners have fitted the mk7.5 AID digital dash in their mk7 GTI’s.

It begs the question, why would you spend a significant sum of money to make a mk7 look like a mk7.5. It won’t be worth any more, and it could put off some future buyers when the time comes to sell, as replacing much of the front end might suggest the car has had front end damage in an accident.

Why make the car uglier?

Just wrap the shiny trim on the pre-FL bumper and enjoy the more R unique look than the facelift car’s R Line/GTD hybrid looks.

I like the FL R’s headlights better but everything else is a retrograde step aesthetically IMO.

The OP has a GTD not an R...?

The Mk7.5 lights look so much better but it's a lot of trouble and cost to change everything.

Agreed on the R - stick some Prets and a quad exhaust on a FL R-line that has the LED lights and would be hard to tell!

GTI looks so much better FL though than Mk7 but think thats the red stripe and fogs.

Something else to think about is the radar sensor on the front - it's in a completely different place and would therefore probably need (at best) calibrating or alternatively, the 2 types might not be compatible, meaning you lose all the functionality and safety features associated with it.

Personally I think they just made the Golf look like the Audi TT with those dreadful front lights DRL style.

It is a different sensor and use. Its behind the badge, which probably means all sorts of front end bits need swapping over to make it fit. Then it has outside lane detection scanning as well, to prevent undertaking, I suspect that needs all sorts of changes to be made to make it work.

Obviously, the Mk7.5 front grill won't go over the Mk7's sensor and there will no doubt be loads of mismash there.

Probably easier to go full third party, either that or save your cash and swap your Mk7 for a 7.5....

I asked about retro fitting the newer style badge radar and was told by two different master techs it can't be done. Cost of parts was an absolute fortune and I'm sure the badge is a different size, not width but depth. Behind the front badge on a mk7 looks different to a FL one apparently. I would say it's a no go oh and the pre FL sensor is heated where the FL isn't.
