Thanks for that SRGTD
I've already had a look at the sticky as it is something I have considered
The amount that have failed at under 50k is concerning
The car was manufactured 5th May 2010 so should have the revised tensioner, I stayed away from any 09 models and did some research on this forum first
Dealer said chain needs changing at 120k or 10 years, whichever comes first. I thought it was 100k myself.
Either way replacing them aftermarket lights and getting the chain done is my main priority
I have had a 2005 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa for 10 years so obviously driving this car is luxury to me
I had a bad experience with a timing chain on that so i have learnt my lesson
How much is it to get timing chain done with water pump and tensioner etc. at VW v Indi ?
I used an Indi to replace my chain on my Corsa earlier than it should because the tensioner started to fail at 50k, but the mechanic broke the water pump, he tightened the bolt too hard and cracked it. Then he filled it with bathroom silicone and eventually this got into the cylinder head and killed it.
If VW charge say £500 i'd get it done there but if it's £1000 i'll go Indi
