That sounds good. I might ring VW tomorrow see if they’ll give me the similar information or if they’re lying to us again

If you’re lucky! Ordered mine 17 weeks ago and was told by the dealer 16 weeks lead time. It’s looking more like 24 weeks

I ordered on 1 October and have build confirmed for w/c 3 Dec.
That’s pretty fair if true.
Mind you, I don’t expect to be offered it until late Jan19 and will take it for 1 March.

12 to 13 weeks is usual lead time for a factory build,  sometimes they arrive a week or two early. I waited 26 weeks back in 2013 and some were even longer so the current delays aren't anything that hasn't been seen before. People just need to be patient and think to themselves it'll be worth the wait. Twisting on to vw customer services won't make your car come any quicker, harsh reality but unfortunately true.

I think that a lot of us don't mind the wait, it's the lack of clear information and customer service that is frustrating to us as we don't know when our cars will arrive. If we are selling our current cars or have leases ending etc how are we supposed to plan things when we have absolutely no idea when our new car will arrive? I was told no later than November, a 4 month wait at the time which is fair but now it could turn up in 2 weeks later or it could turn up in 10 weeks later, I have absolutely no idea. The tracker has been stuck on build in progress for me for almost 5 weeks now and we know it doesn't take longer than 2 weeks. A simple notification to let me know that the car is now built but is being held until WLTP testing is complete which is expected to be by X date would suffice.

Not trying to speed up process, just looking for clear information from VW.

I understand the frustration, your dealer should be doing more to reassure you that you won't lose out over the delay if they are unable to provide definitive timescales. Either by providing you with a loaner or by freezing your trade-in value.

If you currently have a lease through VWFS it is often the case that they will informally extend the lease until your new vehicle arrives as long as you can provide them with an order number for the new vehicle. It's when you have a current lease with someone else that things become difficult.
