now the cars been cold overnight the level was down (as expected) but still within min/max.. so i topped it with the remaining radweld before coming to work..

so at least large amounts aren't vanishing overnight..

Rad weld is evil stuff!

It's ok for a temp fix but it's not good for your car as it furrs up all the water ways and reduces cooling effeciency.

You'd be better off fixing the leak properly. Having said that of course Rad weld is cheap and fixing the problem may not be.

Radweld is fine, providing it is used properly.

soo umm... coolant level is still perfect...

and after checking oil levels properly today i've had to put 1.5 litres of oil in to bring it out of not registering on the dipstick at all, and upto the max oil level mark.. doh! at least my new dip stick from last week (old one broke a while back) makes it easy to check the level again

If I were you mate, I'd leave the coolant alone then until you come to change it or anything else in the system.... I 'fiddled' with a rad on my last car and it fell to bits on me. No amount of radweld will stop water pouring out of a sparrow sized hole!

yeah.. i'm not planning on breaking it now.. already learned that lesson this time last year!  changed coolant and ended up springing a leak in a hose off the block.. althou i would like to ensure the coolant strength is ok.. rumours are this winter will be a coldun!  think a lot of water and not much anti has gone in there.. might have to siphon some out via the expansion and replace it with coolant till its right.. no harm in doin it that way..

btw Jethro is doing a show at wellsprings tonight.. gotta pick my folks up.. if ur goin and see a very low black valver (my folks are fat LMAO) its me pickin em up... LOL

Nuts, if I'd known that I would have got a few people together and come along. It's me and my gf's 2nd anniversary today so we're going for a meal in Bridgy...

And to get back OT, yeah using a turkey baster to get the water/ radweld mix out is a good idea...
