Door locking
« on: 25 May 2018, 13:25 »
Hi all,

I have a 2014 Mk7 Golf. Automatic - would never go back to manual now.

Anyways, is it possible to have the doors automatically lock when you're parked up and leave the car
I don't mean the autolock feature to lock the doors when you drive away.

I mean, when you park up, leave the car and walk away, have the car automatically lock the doors.

I'm pretty sure this happened with my old golf (Mk5) and I've got into the bad habit of walking away and not pressing the lock button - only for the car not to automatically lock and so remain open!

So is there a similar feature on the Mk7 and how do I turn it on?

Many thanks
Chris

I'm fairly sure that is codeable.

The vehicle will automatically lock if you unlock it but don't then open any doors for a few minutes.

Of course, just remembering to press the button shouldn't be so hard should it?

There is a lock when close the doors feature but I know a lot of people don’t like it, programmed with obdeleven or vcds

Can only be done by coding - I done it a while ago with one of those cheap ebay dongles that hook up to a tablet

Fredgroves: I'm a creature of habit, and I've had YEARS of the doors 'just locking' with my previous golf...it was a 2003 plate! Difficult habit to break.

Thanks I will look into getting some 'coder'. This is all new to me - as my previous car was...a 2003 plate - and i've had nothing in the mean time. So have to catch up on 15yrs of tech :)

Any suggestions what to buy? This is only change I want to make. I have an android phone.

See if anyone on here with ODB11 is close to you and offer them a pint...

BTW the reason why its not a popular idea must be because it has the possibility of locking keys/other occupants in the car... its probably a good idea if you live somewhere dangerous like South Africa, not so much Grimsby!
