Hi all, I know the subject of dash cams has been discussed "ad nauseam", but having recently taken delivery of my new GTI it's something I want to fit.
My car has the front assist camera at the top of the windscreen, and it seems this has changed from the early models in as much as on earlier models the mounting for the rear view mirror was set much further back on the housing (towards the rear of the car), but on the new housings, the mirror mounting is right at the front (see the image below from my car)
My plan was to fit something like a Thinkware F770 mounted on the housing behind the mirror with the lens popping out to one side, like I've seen on a few installs, however this was based upon the older mounting for the front camera housing, not the later ones like mine.
Has anyone got the lane assist camera on a 7.5 Golf and has fitted a dash camera and could share make and model and perhaps a pic of the install. I want it to be as stealth as possible, which is why I wanted to mount it on the camera housing rather than off to one side in plain view and in the passengers field of view. I'd also prefer as small a cameras as possible without a screen but with wifi so that it can connect to a phone. Am I asking too much ?
