What tyre size 19" Prets

Guys, just pulled the trigger from CM Wheels on some 19" Prets, I thought the correct size of tyre is 235/35/19 but looking on the VW website they list 225/35/19?, which is correct please

225 for the GTI, 235 for the R.

I think Prets were an option for the R and the Clubsport and both were shod with 235/35x19 tyres because the wheel is 8x19.  The Brescia option for the Clubsport and 7.5 Golfs has 225/35x19 tyres because the wheel size is 7.5x19.  If I was fitting Prets to a Mk7 or a Mk7.5 I would use 235/35x19 tyres.

Ah yes, sorry my mistake. 235 is correct as both the Prets and the Speilbergs are 8J and take a wider tyre than the other factory 19's.

Not wanting to be pedantic, but looking at their site you have bought ‘pretoria’ style wheels, not VW prets. Aka replicas.

Yes well spotted. I'm having an off day today as I missed that bit too

However the reps are still 19 inch 8J, so the tyres will still be 235 wide  :smiley:

I had asked about them (they are also on ebay), they weigh 11.8kg each which I found a bit on the heavy side but you can't ask much for that price.

Yes they are reps, im not that bothered as its for my wife's car and she does about 3000 miles per year :grin: 235 it is then....

Genuine Prets bend at the merest sight of a pothole so a set of decent reps are fine, will have a better offset and therefore look at least as good minus the heartache if you bend one.
Yeah the reps are a bit heavy but if it’s just for normal road use it’ll be fine.
