What size alloys with what size lowering springs?

Hiya Lads & Lass's

I have a 1.4 MK3 Ryder, in Red.

And I want to have 17" alloys on there, but have it low enough so it looks tight. What would you recommend, from the following:

16" = 50mm
16" = 60mm drop

17" = 40mm drop
17" = 60mm drop.

Also I'm really liking the Wolfrace Street Octane alloys, think they'd suit my car really well, what do you think?

if youve got 17in alloys i would lower it 60mm,
as it just doesnt look low enough when you lower 40mm,
ive 17in wheels on my mk3 lowered 60mm on ajustable coilovers and it looks sweet,
i would like it lower but ive got kids so im not aloud,
just a tip for you make sure you use 205 40 17 tyres or you will rub on arches.
hope this helps

Thanks for the help guys, I got mine lowered 40mm, but I wish I went 60mm, but my ins said they wont alloy any lower than 40mm.

With Rear lights, Side Skirts, Lowering, Alloys and CAT 1 Toad Alarm, its only increased my insurance by £25.07 per ANNUM!

So as you can imagine I didnt want to change for Norwich Union.

And also what would be better, with 40mm Drop.

15" ?
16" ?
17" ?

And do you have any pics of cars lowered 40mm with these diffrent size alloys.

Thanks again guys!
