The Mk7 GTI was available to order mid 2013... so in theory with a 5 year life cycle... I'd guess it was pushed out a year.

MK7 was with dealers in Germany in November 2012.
GTI was announced in March 2013 (at the Geneva auto show).
So I suppose that a six month delay from the new Golf Mk8 till GTI can be expected again...

Once cars get to 5 years old, not all cars are equal for condition, service and history. It doesn't always pay to buy the cheapest. I would be very cautious looking at a £12-13k GTi personally.

Let's see how the mk8 turns out, if it has any hint of hybrid technology I will not be looking to own one until I have to. The mk7-7.5 may be seen as peak Golf???

Its definitely going to be mild hybrid at the very least. I'll happily put a small wager on that one!

Yes Barry, but there is a difference between selling your car to a dealer for 12k and the dealer selling it to someone else for 12k! Probably at least 3k!!

They where willing to sell the car to anyone for the same money  or anyone could buy one at auction as they are similar price there too

I still stand by my point that not all cars are equal as they get older due to differences in condition, servicing and history. You may get lucky and find a desperate private seller or buy a dog at auction that a dealer is unloading?

Caveat Emptor!

I've seen loads go through the auctions that the company I work for use dealers are snapping up due to over supply from leasing companies and your right not all are the same but the ones from forum members on here would have been really well looked after

A grade 3 r and look at current retail value

I have a full five year factory warranty on mine. Bought it when car new for not much. Intend to sell privately at four and a half years ,so buyer gets peace of mind of a  six months warranty . Hope that helps get a good price .
