Picking up brand new GTI next week
« on: 24 March 2018, 19:08 »
Hi all, put down a deposit on a new Isaac blue GTI with performance pack and leather seats.

Will be the first VW i've owned and looking forward to it after having had a MK7 Fiesta ST from new since 2015. The rattles had become too much for me!

Congratulations

Great choice, I have Isaac Blue and the PP. Also had 3 MK7 Fiesta ST's!  I know what you mean about rattles!

The GTI is a much better car all round, you've made a great choice

Enjoy!

Congrats and great choice. They are a great all rounder.

Was it a showroom car you are buying as most of us had to wait several months.

Cheers that's what I wanted to hear, the fiesta is an amazing car but looking for something slightly more refined but as well reviewed.

I assume a cancelled order as it had just arrived for prep in Worcester so they're moving it to my dealership for collection on Friday.

Be preapred for a big dissapointment in performance / response below 3500 rpm espically coming from an ST.......

A good car but the engine / throttle is fast asleep lower down the range.

Not a popular post im sure but you will notice the difference.

Just to add to this for the OP, I wouldnt worry and you wont be overall dissapointed at all. Just adapt your driving slightly coming from the fiesta that has all the torque low down the rev range . You have to work the GTI a little more, but its a drivers car so thats the whole point. When going for a blast keep it above 3k and you'll be smiling all the way

Absolutely correct.
There's a hell of a lot of torque at very low revs and a very responsive turbo on the GTI but it's all dumbed down by the accelerator pedal electronics.
With the steering in Sport and a pedal box fitted the GTI becomes something very responsive and lithe.
