Anthracite wheels on grey Golf

My dark grey 7.5R came with 19” black Pretorias. They look good but I’m getting a second set. The car has black mirror caps, black sunroof and the dark tinted rear windows. Black is probably the sensible choice but any other ideas on colour and style? Would matt anthracite work or is that just grey on grey?

Grey on grey is a bit much for my liking, especially if the shades are closely matched.

For grey cars i prefer black, silver or dare I say... ...diamond cut.

When I owned my Carbon Grey mk6 Golf I put a set of anthracite VW Rotary alloys on it and IMO the colour of the wheels went well with the Carbon Grey paintwork.

I personally don’t like black wheels and I dislike diamond cut wheels for their fragility when subjected to the winter weather, but wheel colour (and a car’s paint colour) choice is a very personal thing. If we all liked the same colours, life would be boring .

Im considering having my wheels powder coated and cant decide on colour the ideal would likely be gloss black as the roof and mirror caps are same but a wee bit of my fancies anthracite

Any thoughts ?

I’m with Guzzle on this.

I would say if you do go grey on grey, make sure it’s not the same or a very similar tone of grey.  On Indium I’d make the wheels slightly darker than the body otherwise it’s too samey.  In the above pics, SRGTD gets it spot on with his Rotary wheels which are different tone to the carbon body, in his case the wheels slightly lighter than the body.  In Ian’s (and this is just my opinion) as much as the BBS CH-R are a great design, to me, in that particular pic, the wheels are too similar a tone to the car to thrill, it just looks a bit ‘executive’. Sorry Ian. The saving grace may be that LSG looks very different in different lights.  Phew!

Gloss Anthracite against white is beautiful.  Classier and a notch above black on white. And it still works with black mirror caps amd roof, breaks up the monochrome which can start to look quite flat if overdone.

Think im defonsold on the anthracite had gloss black on the sd and felt they looked chavvy with my other black bits 🙄

Anthracite wheels on a pure white GTD would be a great combination IMO
