Suspension advice

Another vote for Eibach Pro Line springs, hated my VWR springs. Took them off after just a week as ride quality was terrible.

I came across a random post on FB yesterday on a MK7 group about someone claiming the VWR springs ruined his ride and that after being replaced with Eibachs the ride got much better, although suspension preferences are always subjective to an extent.

You're not that guy in the MK7 group on FB right??

I'd be lowering the car for looks and to take a little body roll out. I don't want it 'slammed' as I'm getting a bit old for that kind of look now and I'm sure my wife wouldn't thank me either. 

No point at all spending all that money on coilovers then.

Why not just save all your money and leave the R the way it is? Why ruin it?

Surely it's down to personal preference as to what he does with his car? Nice constructive post BTW.

To the OP - If you were tracking the car, I'd say go with the B16s. However if it's mainly for looks, just go for springs. I run Eibach Sportlines on mine and they're spot on. If you want a little more OEM comfort, go with the Pro-kit. The sportlines lower the front slightly more than the Pro-kit but result in a slightly harsher ride.

Wtf are you talking about?? All I said was another option which was save all the money and don't change the springs. Of course it's down to personal preference and it's his car but my response is no better or worse than yours!!

Based on my experiences on the R and lowering over two years:

H&R's made the car skittish especially at the rear
VWR I had issues with quality and got through about 3 sets of front springs, I believe they resolved issues
Eibach were the best of the lot and in reality I have always tended to prefer their offering to the OEM

Best driving R I have been in had B16s on and would be my choice as the damping is simple to adjust and you can tailor things

Why not just save all your money and leave the R the way it is? Why ruin it?

Because the stock suspension for me is the week point and crashy.

If I was going springs I would go Eibach over VWR as seem to suit the stock dampers

If my car was non DCC i  would go for the B16s, i ran them on my Mk6 and had Revo's mk7 R for a week with them on and loved them

After a few months on the B16s on my mk6 i got dialled into the settings and set ups as ran them relatively soft on the road

If money were no object, I'd have gone for something like B16s but for what I wanted (which sounds suspiciously like what you seem to want) springs were spot on. I might (at some stage) get some Bilstein shocks to go with them (can't remember if it's the B6 or B8 that are shortened) which is another option on top of your 2 original one's.

As I said earlier, personally I'd go for Eibachs over VWRs - I did a lot of research before getting mine and whilst it's quite a decent drop, it's not crashy whereas I'd heard a few people saying the VWR one's weren't up to much.

Similar boat here, looking at either B14 coils or Eibach pro springs with B4 dampers.

Read a lot about the suspension set ups, and the usual culprit for crashy ride is the dampers being overstressed by an greater then 1.5" drop which I think the VWR springs supply. Also the rear seems to suffer with OEM rattle from the rear dampers, which most report the bilsteins fix.

Go for a set of Ohlins road and track. The ride quality is better than standard, they lower the car a little and improve the handling. I’ve tried them all and they’re in a different league. They’re not cheap but you won’t have to do it twice!
