What would you do?
« on: 27 February 2018, 12:30 »
Due to collect new car Thursday 1st which was confirmed 2 weeks ago by my salesman at VW dealership. Email said he would contact nearer the time for exact handover time.

Heard nothing back so emailed him first thing yesterday to ask what time. Nothing back. Called yesterday, was told he is in but with customers. He didnt call back. Called twice today already and receptionist took my message but he hasnt called back  or replied to my email.

I do actually need to know as I have clients to consider and meetings to organise around for Thursday I cant hang on any longer. Ive emailed suggesting a time but no reply.

The dealer is only a few miles from my house and receptionist confirmed he is in today. Is it an asshole move to go after work and ask for him face to face to organise this? What would you do

Starting to wonder if there is an issue and he is ignoring me on purpose!

No - not an ass move at all. He should have called you back and you gave him multiple opportunities.

Go in there and shame him (that's what I'd do).

If the dealer is so close, of course you should go round. It's only an asshole move if you go storming in and act like one.

I don't think you have much choice but to go in and see him if he isn't responding to messages.

Be polite but firm, and make it clear you have other commitments on that day and can't afford to be messed around.

Personally I'd just ring up one more time and if he can't/won't come to the phone, simply ask to speak immediately to the dealer principal. I guarantee you'll get to speak to someone, whether it be the dealer principal or the salesman when he gets a bit 50p/20p.

It's just another example of how the attitude of some salesman change once they've got the commission from the sale. What they don't realise is that's the sort of thing that's going to stop the customer coming back next time.

Definitely go round to see him.  He should have been in touch with you, you are the customer (yes I know the definition of that is not something some VW dealerships are that familiar with!), and it's patently obvious from your many attempts to make contact with him that you wish to finalise the matter and get the car you are paying for.

That worked a treat. Called again and asked for the dealer principal and they put me through to the sales manager instead. I explained the situation to him. He said 'leave it with me'  kid you not less than 5 mins later my salesman emailed me back with the time

Lol

Thanks for everyones help!
