I’ve been thinking about my next car.
« on: 26 February 2018, 22:08 »
After owning my GTI for 9 months or so I am that happy with it that I will definitely be considering the Mk8 once it arrives. I have never stuck with the same brand before let alone the same model, it’s just perfect for what I need it for and it looks fantastic.

As you were.

I have learnt (very quickly) I miss RWD and will be going back to a BMW as soon as my lease finishes on this GTI.

2 series or 3 series?

Isn't the forthcoming 1 series going to be front wheel drive like the Golf?

Probably a 2 if its still RWD.

Not heard about them swapping to FWD, but given all the models they make out of the MINI platform (and I think that big BMW people carrier thing is FWD) then I certainly would not rule it out.

I'd guess they would never dare go FWD on the 3 and 5. But then I also thought they would never go turbo on an M car.

If it's so good, why change it at all?

Good point. Right now it is great but in 3 years when it’s paid off I will have money burning a hole in my pocket and will want another new car. It’s a vicious cycle.

If you still have one, use the money you would spend monthly on a new car, on your mortgage instead. It will be far more beneficial in the long run, meaning you'll have much more money to spend on cars once the house is paid for.
