New GTi PP on its way

Hi all,

New to the forum and to the world of the GTi. Giving back my Polo BlueGT company car as soon as mine's ready:

GTi 3dr in Pure White
Performance Pack
Manual
Dynaudio
90% tints

Keeping the Parkers, I know they divide opinion but the tester I drove had 19s and it felt a little jumpy especially with how bad the roads are around here.

Ordered 2 weeks ago, showing build week 26/3, I'm planning on 1/5 to collect. Reasonable?

I think it might be a bit later than 1st May, probably more likely mid May, but strange things happen.

I'd have ditched the Parkers for Sevilles... still 18's but not going to get whiteworm.

Unless you have it on a 3 years or less lease or PCP and don't intend to keep it.

Whiteworm is such a b!tch with those diamond cut wheels.

I really did think about the Sevilles, they look lovely, but I wasn't quite sure how theyd look with the white car. They look epic on the Tornado Red but I wouldn't personally want that colour.

Playing with the configurator I do have to say the Sevilles do look nice. If the build week's been confirmed d'ya reckon it will delay it much if I wanted to swap them?

Welcome to the gang. Nice options there. As a music lover I love the dynaudio and the PP was a must for me. 

Mine is 2014 plate and no whiteworm for me so you may never need to worry about it.

The PP was the difficult bit to decide on for me... The one I drove at the dealers was the 230 and to be fair it was more than enough, but I do love a good roundabout and I think the diff will be noticed at least. And I'd be lying if the red GTi badges weren't a little bit of the decision too.

The car is PCP and I'm likely to change before the 4 years. Is there anything much I can do to avoid potential whiteworm if I stick with the Parkers or is this just luck-based?

I think luck plays a big part of it, but if you keep on top of them (i,.e touch up any chis etc immediately with touch up paint and / or clear lacquer, then barring a catastrophy, you should be OK.

My old MK7 GTD with the standard Diamond cut alloys were still mint when I swapped it for the current GTD after just short of 3 years, but then I've heard of others that had had issues within 12 months or so. You certainly need to keep on top of them.

Welcome to the Gti world.
You'll love it and the Performance pack is worth it, you'll notice the diff on the corners, certainly keeps it tight and planted, also you get bigger brakes.
I found choosing the wheels the hardest thing, I don't think vw offer the best choice. Really didn't want diamond cut but went for Brescia's because I wanted decent tyres (Pirelli p zero , the 18" wheels come with Bridgestones)
In the end go with what you like it's your money.

I have a white 3 door DSG with 90% tints and Seville wheels waiting for me at the dealers ready for next month.  I have to say they look a lot better in the flesh than on the configurator.

+1 for the Sevilles.. look real good imho.. another bonus is no white worm i hated that on my mk5..

I came from a manual Polo Blue GT to my current GTi PP, DSG and it's definitely a good move!

I liked the Polo and thought it a bit underrated. Sold it privately through Autotrader and it went quickly and for a good price, with a surprising amount of interest considering it was the summer holidays.
Only thing I would say is that I could easily get mid to high 40's mpg in the Polo, whereas the Golf averages low 30's on similar routes / speeds.
