PPF won't stop stone chips unfortunately.

Um pretty sure it does. The whole point in paint protection film is to stop stone chips, scratches and will even prevent the paint being damaged if someone keys your car.

 :rolleyes: PPF is exactly for preventing stone chips.
It’s a 1-2mm thick plastic film that adheres to the paintwork.

That was my understanding. I dare say that if a particularly sharp edged stone is flicked up from a car in front and projected at a PPF covered panel at high speed, there’s a risk that the PPF may get marked, but the paintwork beneath should be protected.

There’s even a version of PPF that is self healing if it’s scratched;

If your car is traveling at 70mph and a stone is flicked up then nothing is going to stop it damaging your paint no matter what anyone says! PPF may stop low speed damage but it's never going to stop high speed stuff and as for 'self healing' ffs it's not a living thing it's plastic!

So your saying PPF can withstand a 120mph impact from a stone?? Must be magic stuff then, why doesn't everyone have it!

So we’ve gone from 70mph to 120mph.

Do you actually know what you’re talking about?!
Hint: it’s coming across like you’ve no idea.

Quite clearly you don't. Your car travels at 70mph, the stone travels at 50mph therefore it's a 120mph impact. Come back when you actually understand what others are talking about! PPF in no way can defy the laws of physics no matter what you think or have been told. The only way to stop stone chips is to leave your car in parked in a garage.
