Thanks all, some really good view / points.

@Exonion - Never thought of driving around in sports mode to see if I could live with it. Are you saying a 19" shod GTI without DCC is about the same as a 19" car with DCC but in sports mode ? For info, I usually drive in "individual mode" and have DCC soft to Comfort for about 80% of the time).

@I wanted a GTi - Where did you see that about speccing Nav Pro automatically got you Dynaudio (if so I must have missed that). I know on the fist GTD, I had to spec them separately but on the current GTD, it was part of the "Tech Pack" and much cheaper than individually.

Also, never knew you could turn off the auto locking / unlocking of the Keyless - how do you do that or is it only of FL cars ?

No "tech pack" on the 7.5's yet... I am sure it will come with the pre-Mk8 run out but not yet...

I've never tried DCC.
I've had quite a few cars with uprated suspension over the years and in my opinion it's the springs that make the biggest difference to the actual ride quality. You can have fairly stiff dampers and mellow springs and the car will ride well on UK roads. But mellow dampers and stiff springs (like the Clubsport) makes the car a bit choppy on certain roads.
The standard GTI non DCC suspension is quite compliant but the springs will still cause an occasional crash over sharp irregularities.
I ran 18s and 19s on my PP GTI and although there was a difference in ride it wasn't huge. On the R it made no difference and on the Clubsport the 19's are pretty harsh!

The standard GTI rides just fine. Just make sure you drive around potholes and manhole covers as much as possible as 19" wheels will bend quite easily. They'll bend whether you have DCC or not!

6. Any one have the "Lane assist including Dynamic Light Assist" option for £650 and can confirm if that's worth having ? I like the idea of the speed limits shown in the AID (it does that yes), and the automatic masking of the headlights when on main beam etc, but not really sure if it's worth £650 - thoughts ?

In my opinion - Lane assist is not worth having. Speed sign recognition is probably my favourite part. It is nice to have the current speed limit in the display in front of you. The feature I really wanted was Dynamic Light Assist. I do like it, but I could definitely live without it. There is a list of limitations in the owners manual. I often find I have to operate the lights manually.

TBH traffic sign recognition is a bit old hat compared to running Waze anyway. That gives me the speed limits and can be set to ping when you either exceed the limit or approach it  or exceed it by a certain amount (up to you).

I'd actually go as far as to say Waze or Google Maps make the built in Nav utterly redundant. What they really need to do now is to offer a cheap large Android Auto compatible screen and ditch the nav function all together. It will come I am 100% sure.

That and make the AID be able to mirror Android Auto....

I'm sure a lot of these things will come with the Mk8, simply because the Golf really sells on its tech heavy loadout. Its far more advanced than the (non VAG) competition...

I think you meant to reply to me.

From what I have read the standard suspension is closer to the DCC sport mode.

There are so many variables here. My previous car was a Mk6 GTD on 17inch alloys with Goodyear Eagle AS2 tyres. When the chassis control was set to 'sport'. The ride became very choppy. I experienced the same choppy ride when test driving 2 Mk7 Golf GTDs and 2 Audi A3 Sline cars. The choppy ride is a lot less noticeable from the drivers seat.

The Mk7 with DCC is a reasonably comfortable car, as you should know.

Sorry but I thought that dynaudio came with the nav pro.

For turning off the keyless opening bit look at post 11 on page 2 here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=282638.10

Took delivery of my 7.5 PP last November and have a number of the options you're looking at

NavPro - It's an expensive option but I had it in my Mk7. Resolution is up, it responsive, it certainly fills the car and if going for the Dynaudio, the could be worth it. I wouldn't swear by it and it's certainly down to preference. Gesture control is a bit of a gimmick.

DCC - I'm on 19" Brescias and this was a feature I loved on my old one with 18" Austins. Switch onto Comfort and it does knock out some of the bumps. Good fun in sport mode as well.

Art Velour - Yes! Interior looks seriously smart with this. Added bonus of the heated front seats as well (especially in this weather). The faux leather is respectable and keeps things simple inside. I couldn't face spending £1700 on leather and though some love the red piping on the facelift, wasn't for me. Art Velour seems decent value for money to me as an option.

Sunroof - Really does split the camp this one. Personally, I love it. Throw in a cool sunny morning and it's fantastic (add in the growl of the pipes). Glad I've specced it this time and touch wood rattlegate doesn't come on through with it.

Keyless - not for me. London starting to see the headlines of foil repeaters being used and swerved. key in the ignition never hurt anyone. But again, each to their own here.

Lane Assist - can't comment as didn't get this one specced. I'm always keen to know what people think of this one though..

On the 7.5PP tailpipes - quite a change in sound. When you first turn that ignition to changing gear at 4k, it's a totally different sound to Mk7. Chatter on here is that they're a pressed steel variant of the CS pipes. Definitely bigger and kick out a good fun bit noise. Awaiting to see how these warm up over time

I'll be getting heated windscreen on my next one and ditching the hba. Total waste of money and never ever used it.
