Found these this morning:

https://www.tyresafe.org/check-your-pressures/car-pressure-checker/
https://www.puretyre.co.uk/tyre-information/tyre-pressures/

So the first website gives a generic tyre pressure for my M3....doesn't take into account tyre sizes. The second one is (I presume) from the US so just gives the wrong tyrre sizes.

Is it that much trouble to locate the manufacturer sticker on your car which tells you exactly what pressure you should use under specific conditions?

+1. I use the sticker inside the fuel flap which gives VW’s recommended pressures, depending on how fully loaded your car is with occupants and luggage. The websites don’t appear to do this.

i don't really think the manufacturers stickers are much cop to be honest.

mine is meant to be 38psi front and rear according to the sticker, which is mental. they obviously take emissions and mpg into account more than ride and handling.

That website says 36psi, which is interesting. I run 34 front and back which seems to work. To be fair i bet the cup 2 could go much lower

I mean what might the manufacturer know about the exact pressures it has designed your car to be driven at. It's not as if they have put millions of miles of testing into it or anything

Seriously...go to the finest people who know about these things...Centre Gravity (handling specialists) and the first thing they tell you is stick to the manufacturer recommended pressures for your car!

Im sure a hell of a lot of testing goes into it. I think VW operate at the very much on the conservative side though. I think they take too much emissions and MPG into consideration and ride / handling takes a back seat.

How can a concrete bridgestone have the same tyre pressure as a chewing gum michelin with reinforced side walls etc?

its strange how the weight distribution on mine is is around 52%/48% front to back (as far as i can find) and it calls for 38psi.

a gt4 (on the same cup 2 tyes) rear axle weight is about the same as a gti front axle and that calls for 33psi.

obviously comparing a mid engine to a FWD car isnt ideal but going of weight alone the manufacturer definitely are too high.

How would swapping wheels make your tyre plate no longer applicable. Do the tyre plates only show one size now?
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

I guess it depends..if you have replaced your 18's with 22' blingsters then it wouldn't be applicable

My plate only shows pressure for 19s ie 41. Now on 18s which website told me 36 and a bit of a trawl through here confirms correct
