2013 pp gti servicing
« on: 28 January 2018, 20:57 »
Hi couple of service questions for you guys
We have had a ‘manual Pp gti since new 63 plate.
We had it on the service plan with Vw while under warranty.
They mentioned last yr that it needed the diff oil changing, has anyone else has this done? I declined last yr as the car had only done 28k at the time. The car now has 37k on it and service is due soon just wondering what else is due at this age? Spark plugs? Fuel filter?

I’m tempted to do stuff like the plugs, fuel air and pollen filter myself and then just get an oil change service by a Vw specialist

Cheers

Paul

IIRC, it has been brought up here before, so worth a search. Again IIRC, it's a good thing that your dealer mentioned the diff oil change as many don't/have absolutely no idea that this might be a good thing.

Will certainly mention it to mine as if a lack of an oil change means it does go wonky at 3 & a bit years, I don't doubt it is not a cheap fix .

I'll be not too far away from my second change by your age of car (assuming I still have it), so could be worse!

Hi. There does seem to be some confusion regarding oil changes for the Dif, and for the dsg box.  At 40k miles I was under the impression that I'd need both changed.  The best price I could find was (unusually) at my local dealer so I booked it in.  I then received a call from VW in Germany who asked why I wanted the diff oil changed; they didn't think it needed to be and was "lifetime" filled.  As a result I had only the dsg oil changed at 40k.  Sparks are to be done at 40k as well I understand; they are quite expensive and pre-gapped.  Hope this helps.

I had the diff oil changed at 3 years on my 63 plate PP, I think it was £60 extra on top of the service pack at the time. Worth it for peace of mind.

Had my diff oil changed at MOT in November, (at 4 years old). Interesting that when I bought the car at a tad over 3 years old it hadn't been done! Das velt auto too!

It wasn't included in the service pack cost. When I had my 3rd year service, I had to ask the VW garage if the diff service was included as they had no idea.

2013 cars were the first with this diff, so not all VW dealerships were up to speed with the service requirements. Who would have thought? :)

They wanted £130 last yr when they told us about it, the service girl on the phone reckoned the subframe needed dropping to do it!
