should I collect new car now or wait for new reg
« on: 25 January 2018, 10:20 »
I was surprised yesterday to be contacted by the dealer who has received my new 7.5 gti pp ordered through carwow (or one of those). It was not supposed to be built until next week according to the production schedule.

I had tried to finesse the deal by getting the scrappage deal for my old Mercedes on Feb 28th while attempting the next day (March 1st) to get the new reg for the Golf.

Now I have to make the additional decision of whether to leave it in the rust pound for a month at the dealers or go tomorrow or in the next few days.

What value is the new reg worth? And answers to questions I haven't even thought of?

Same as you. My 7.5 pp arrived bit I want to collect 1st March. Never collected a car at tbe beginning of a new reg before. Sitting at the compound will be fine. M

I would wait just because 18 looks nicer and cleaner than 67. Yes I’m a weirdo.

Can’t you organise for a proper detail in the meantime?

well the dealers cleaners use dirty water and just wash the car which can scratch or leave swirl marks, a detailed will do a deep clean, remove most paint defects, and make the car look amazing for more than just a day or two

thanks for clarifying what "detailing" means.

I can appreciate the nightmare of a dealer washing the car with a bucket of dirty water.

Generally 1* plates are worth more than 6* plates, even if only a few weeks apart.
