Hi people, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. had my 1.8t for about 6mths, posted on here a while ago due to juddering while idling and also no instant response on acceleration/ judder @ 2000-3000rpm. Ive since replaced the MAF, this seems to have solved the idle tickover problem and did seem to have improved the car 100% on accelerating.

HOWEVER! this last week the car has become a nightmare to drive again, whilst going through the gears from 3/4/5, it has started labouring rather than pulling away, this eventually clears as the revs increase but on slowing down, around 3000rpm and below, its starts to judder and feels like im in too high a gear. Any advice on this would be really appreciated as im at my wits end. Really had enough of the car already!!

Thanks in advance

sounds like maf again, there has been cases when peeps have had new ones fitted and them to go again not long after, i think there covered for a year so take it back and get em to plug in, you may have a maf fault again... even if your not showin a maf fault id get them to change it again, then drive it, if problems are cured you know it was deffo that as some times maf faults dont always show out on diagnostics.

unless, youve got a split hose and loosing boost etc, this would cause fueling probs and lack of power, dont know to much about these divertor valves but they can fail making the car underpowered and stuff too.

good luck

managed to find the receipt, gonna change it for me 2moro morning. Will put the new one on regardless and see what happens from there. The one im replacing is 5 weeks/ 350miles old!
This may sound a stupid question, but are there any factors that could lead to a Maf failing prematurely? (although obviously i know they dont have a given life expectancy!)

shouldnt be down to your air in take side of things if your running a standard filter/air box, its when you use 'oiled' performance panel filters or induction kits that fook up your maf normally than it will fook itself!,

just a thought, if the problem persists after your maf change have you had any problems with your coil packs on your 1.8t... these are also a common mk4 (1.8t) problem also and could cause juddering/misfiring... might be worth lookin into that if probs continue after tomorrow

will do that kniterider, think its gonna be a long process of elimination. Im not convinced my 'new' maf could have gone up the spout already. ahh well, one way to find out.

P.s how much am i looking at if its coilpack prob?

not sure if vw replace them now still as it was a common fault on the 1.8t engines, i have a figure in my head of £86 for some reason.. each... i could be wrong but you never know!!

Right, just to let you know, fitted new MAF this morning (2nd one in 5wks!!) just been out in the car and it seems to be running perfect, fingers crossed im back in business!
Just goes to show, if it wasnt bad enough that they go wrong in the thousands, they cant even supply me with a new part that works! (oh and it was a brand new Bosch part, £69.95 on exchange from euro carparts).

cheers for the input people
