I'll check out the Golf 7.5 gt , I'm sure theres one of those on offer for me .

Seriously, my wife has a Mk7 GTI 5 Door, Leather seats and often takes our elderly 92 year old female neighbour in it without any problem, in fact she used to transport her 100+ year old husband also, and believe me they are not exactly sprightly!!
Another trick we were told at a hospital was to put a supermarket bag flat on the seat so they can swivel themselves out. It worked for our mother-in-law after she had a hip replacement.
I honestly don't think you need anything other than a 5 door GTI!! with DCC for comfort maybe.
Arrived 15/5/17 Mk 7.5 R Lapiz 5dr DSG, Prets, Pan Roof, DCC, Rear View Cam.
Our other car is a Mk7 GTI DSG 5dr Tungsten, Vienna, Rear View Cam, Park assist.

I have my parents (both in their 80s) in my 5 door R quite often, and they are fine with it - find it very easy to get in and out of and very comfortable, and I don’t even put the DCC (19s) on comfort (yes, I’m mean like that, lol).

Yea i will have to see what they offer, i'll take a few options out for a spin... not sure on the mpg on the gti these days, i know my club sport is costing me £25 every time i need to go to the clinic. plus having to squeeze my nan past the recaros is not fun.

Is the CS a 3 door?
The 3 doors and those bucket seats are your problem. Just not a combination to have if you require any level of practicality.
A 5 door GTI would suit you just fine. It’s not like the “GT” model is any more practical.

Yea 3 door with the reccaro seats, the only drawback between gt and gti would be mpg's

My Granny used to like my Dad's Disco because it had handles to hold onto when she was getting in and out.

We recently had an Audi Q2 for a week. Because it's an compact SUV, you don't have to lower yourself down as you get into it. Just plant your bottom on the seat and rotate in. The father-in-law liked it as he had a hip done. Though I'm not sure there is as much room in the back as the Golf. I sat in a Tiguan and it seems much bigger.

Have you considered a T-Roc?

So the second person on this forum who bought the Recaros & realised they were not practical....

I could see that from a mile away FFS... :smug:

& the MPG is NOT the only difference between the GT & GTI..........1.5lt 150PS is maximum petrol size you get in GT spec.....

Remind me what's a GTI engine size & capacity...????.....

You mean you could see from a mile away through your crystal sphere that showed he's going to need to regularly transport people in the near future?

Seriously, the OP clearly stated he's gutted and that only wants to change the car due to unforeseen circumstances, not because he found the seats are uncomfortable or anything like that so your assumption that a "second person in the forum found them not practical" is flawed and in fact  I don't even get what you're trying to prove. The CS buckets are one of the most comfortable bucket seats out there currently. And I don't mean for race drivers but everyday people like us that find for example the Ford RS buckets tiresome. If you like/want a bucket seat, the CS Recaros are a dream. Amazingly comfortable on long journeys, yet very supportive and looking the business. Exact same design as Audi RS4 B7 Recaros which are also highly sought after but may I say, with an even tastier styling that matches the GTI pattern excellent, compared to plain black leather on the Audi.

His biggest problem is the 3-door version. CS rear seats are no less comfortable than any other Golf so unless he has to carry someone with feet difficulties at the front seat all the time he would have been ok with a 5 door I reckon. I lived with a 3-door car for 2 years without even having children at the time and I can't say I'm not feeling him.

Oh! I thought the priority was a more practical car for your current situation, not MPG?
A 5door GTI will be better MPG than your current 3door recaro CS.
Or maybe another make entirely would suit all the criteria.

They’re probably too nice or scared to complain
