The manual is shocking imo. A cure for insomnia if there ever was one. It’s also full of stuff that won’t be relevant to your particular car, spec / features you don’t have etc. Best source of info is forums like this and google.

Admittedly, the manual’s not the most exciting read, but if you don’t go through it, there’ll be features of your car you paid for and might be missing out on because you were unaware of them. Maybe I’m sad, but one of the first things I do when I get a new car is to read the manual. I picked up my manuals two weeks before I picked the car up

If you don’t mind paying out a fair amount for a really decent set, S2T paddles. Not sticking in, these are full replacement paddles. They cost a lot, and factor in the shipping as come from US, but imo they are worth every penny as they are beautifully made. They come in three styles and different finishes.http://www.s2tpp.com/VW.htmlSome pics in here of the B3 style in polished black, I have on mine. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=276214.0

my dsg plays up sometimes, i've only done 200 miles atm as i'm still trying to sort the steering out. but for myself who's unable to use the paddles, makes my situation a bit worrying. when i pulled away from a roundabout (rolling start 2nd gear) down a slip road (onto a busy dual carr) the car refused to change up to 3rd etc even with revs at 6k so i was forced to pullover and stop for a second or 3 and pull away again. the 1st time this happened i was on a normal country road so i basically had to just stop in the middle of the road.. i think it might of been because the box was still cold but still.. sorry to go off track a bit to OP

Next time it does it look in the dash (AIS) at the gear display. If it display S1, S2, S3 etc as it changes gear pull the gear shift back again and it should change back to D1, D2
