BP Ultimate FUEL
« on: 01 November 2017, 21:22 »
I was wondering if it was OK to use BP Ultimate 97 Ron .... in my golf 2014 ...... To be honest I've always used that fuel in my civic type R...which was heavily modified. .... I haven't changed anything on the Golf yet, will possible have it chipped but that's it really.

What R Your thoughts???

I used Esso 97 in my Stg2 Ed30 thruout my ownership with no issues. It helped as the location was a half mile from my house. Now they have opened a Shell just a spit further its the V stuff in the MK7.

I use Sainsbury’s super unleaded as no  BP or Shell garages near . Car runs really well on it .

I've only been using shell v power in my gti for no other reason than its cleaning detergents and a hope it will keep the fuel system cleaner than using standard petrol.

I use Tesco Momentum 99. I was reluctant to change from regular 95 ron particularly as that is what it says to use on the filler door. But someone helpfully pointed out that VW advise 95 as a minimum and recommend super unleaded so I took the plunge. The car does seem to run a bit better, not convinced on economy, perhaps a tiny bit more mpg but since it works out at about £2.50 more on a full tank I don't think it's worth worrying about

I used to put petrol in mine before I sold it and then put more in when it was empty. When I get my new one, guess what?
I will put petrol in it and when it’s empty I will put more in  !!  😴😴😴

Yes I did in a vain attempt to stop another snorathon war and peace thread about fuel. Using higher grade fuel or otherwise is not going to make anyone into Stirling Moss on their urban crawl around the U.K. road network as they commute about and when the thread  inevitably switches to whinging about fuel economy it doesn’t take a genius to work out you are never going to get anywhere near the official figures due to the fact you can’t buy the stuff the manufacturers use when they conducted the test in a “prepared test facility” buying fuel from any petrol station in the U.K.
A simple search could have told you this rather than opening another thread on a subject that has been covered endless times !!
