All season tyres

Got my conti winter tyres fitted this morning. Two of the origins fit Bridgestones were near the limit and dumped. My tyre fitter suggested Michelin all season tyres as a replacement next spring. Anyone on here got them?

No but if it's the Cross Climate's then they do get favourable reviews. These are better than the traditional all-season tyres and actually have the snowflake symbol on the tyre wall for winter driving.

All Season or Cross Climate tyres are by definition a compromise, I would not compromise on grip in a Hot Hatch, why did you buy the car in the first place bet it was not to drive it at max 70% to stay safe on tyres not designed for the car.

The latest tyre tests in EVO and Auto Express often test these tyres against the best Winters or Summers and while they are getting better they are still some way behind the best for grip and braking, why risk it?

I'd imagine sooner or later a decent cross season will come... I mean if they can run new wet slicks on MotoGp bikes now then the compounds are definitely making big leaps forward, even at the extreme end of the scale.

It was Michelin cross climate + he was talking about. An improved version of the original. We are lucky to live in rural North Yorkshire. Fabulous driving roads ,at the lane, end and all that. But even so, using more than  70%of the Golfs potential would end up with a certain accident or a lot of points on my licence. I quite like the idea as the extra traction can be useful in summer especially as I visit quite a few remote locations.

An all weather tyre is a jack of all trades type of tyre so naturally it'll be a compromise in summer time relative to a summer (normal) tyre over many different characteristics; traction being just one. Personally, I wouldn't use them for summer use on a GTi/R. I do plan to use Conti AllWeather tyres for winter duties on my GTi when it arrives. I'll be getting the tyres mounted on the rims over the weekend.

I've given up on waiting for Michelin to get their act together and release the PS4S in 18" size and I'm going to fit my PS4's next week.

Michelin Cross climate tyres are JUST OK in the summer and winter.

Tyres are - in my opinion - the most important part of any performance car. I don't want my GTI to be JUST OK! Especially in the summer.

I'm still trying to decide myself if I should fit winter tyres or not. Probably not this year - for 2 reasons. Firstly, I have the option to pick the days I work. And my work is not essential. So I can avoid extreme weather. Secondly, our Audi A3 will be getting it's winter boots on soon. On snow and ice, I would rather have our A3 with winter tyres than any GTI or 4x4.

If you still have 2 Bridgestone summer tyres on summer wheels and just need 2 new get summer tyres.
Mixing summers and all season or winters is just a bad idea.

I'd agree with this.It is all or nothing when it comes to tyres.

I put my Nokian WRD4's on for the Winter.Michelin Pilot Sport 4's the rest of the time.
