a while ago my steering wheel was scratched badly by the dealership on my first year of service.  I reported the damage on the day and there was no questions asked and to cut a long story short, I have just been in to have a new steering wheel fitted by the dealership FOC.

You did better than me when a (non-VW) dealer badly scraped/dented my car while it was in for a service.

They denied all responsibility and told me that the damage was there before I arrived...

I do a walk round every time now and get signed agreement to the state of the vehicle before they touch it. Same with tyre places after another bloody chunk out of my alloys.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro

I feel your pain as I have also had a chunk out of one Austin alloy and tyre fitted back to front on the opposite side front wheel.  Double Whammy!  I now scrutinise my car every time it has been in to the workshop even after a service now after this experience.

@ Wide: Nice video I think I will start doing the same with my car, or even maybe gut the car out before handing it over so the steering wheel etc, are not in the car for them to damage in the first place

  • My other car's a van
Might be worth giving them the car with a disklok fitted
And maybe worth fitting 4 space saver wheels for good measure because they really are that useless

I know what you mean, if I had scratched the car myself I would have been less bothered as I could only have an arguement with myself for the damage.  Which If I had done so, would have probably mean't off to the looney bin for me.

It should never have happened but at least they did the right thing afterwards.

Yeah, All is OK now.  But as you say it should never have happened in the first place.
