Personally, I don't think it's substantially cheaper vs build quality. I chose a golf for its interior instead of a Focus ST which is cheaper but shows it.

Against the odds, after many different marques over the years, I actually like my VW dealership over the others I've been subjected to...

It may have a cheaper sticker price to begin with, but as so many 'buyers' fund their cars with PCP's, I would suspect that the Golf would work out cheaper over the term of the deal.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

In terms of residual value?

You might have a point there, with PCP or PCH effectively funding the depreciation.

I'd guess a 28k Hydudai is worth not much after 3 years, whizzy or not!

As a obsessive hater of The Sun it took quite an effort to click on the link. My feelings were duly re-confirmed on reading the garbage therein.

Typical tabloid sh!te (that's a Scottish technical term).

Which is probably a tad unfair on the car in question which will surely be a decent drive.

But at that price??

Best bit is reading the comments btl.

Have a look at this video before discounting it. As for VW quality and their dealers

I really like it and think it looks ok , the GTI pp I have has been out 4 years now and it's nice to see another manufacturer pick up on the pp great diff as it's a compliment and let's not forget it's got 45bhp extra over the one I drive so you would expect it to be quicker but I'm sure if I was running a similar hp I'd give it a run for its money and even though I love my Golf anything from the East is normally bullet proof.
