It wasn't the OP driving so I would say once the paperwork is completed nothing more should happen.

Agreed, but as the owner the op takes responsibility until someone else accepts responsibility. Which is unlikely to happen. I can only assume the estimated time of theft and police report kicks in.

Been told that I should be fine - just got to return the completed  NIP to them with a covering letter explaining the circumstances and the crime ref. no. and it will get quashed.

Will they let you off it given the circumstances? How does that work?

Seems to be a bigger issue in the North, Wildling's roaming around thieving.

Just wanted to give an update.

The NIP was quashed without any problems. Got a letter from the Police saying if I have any more come through then to drop them a line and they will sort it out.

Car has not been recovered - probably spread all over the country by now! Insurance company has agreed to payout and offered top market value for the car which was a nice surprise and the GAP insurance have just confirmed they will be covering the full amount back to invoice price.

Now.... what car to buy next.... torn between another GTI PP but the facelift model or an Audi A3 Quattro Sportback  :undecided:

Yeah, you can say that again!

Definitely worth every penny the GAP insurance - every £9k that I got  Would never buy a car again without it especially when you take into consideration that it doesn't really cost the much and can cover you for upto 5 years. Best money I ever spent.
