For me, the AID is good, but could be SO much better ...

My two main gripes ..

Not being able to see "Classic" view - where the speedo and rev counter show full needles. This is available on other VW models with AID, but not the Golf ... why ???

The white fuel needle against white tick marks. It is sometimes very difficult to see where the needle is ... kind of defeats the whole point of the AID. Yes, I know you can have the remaining range displayed, but surely a clear fuel gauge is not too much to ask !!

When the fuel level is low, triggering the low fuel warning, the fuel gauge on the AID starts showing the remaining range... I only noticed this the other day!

I noticed that on the first picture of this thread, i reckon that's a nice little feature.

Another question about the display

Can you configure what info you have between the speed and rev counter.  And in the middle of the speedo and in the middle of the rev counter.

For me i would have -

Middle of rev counter - Oil temp
Middle of speedo - Fuel Range
Between speedo and rev counter - sat nav or stereo info

Would need to check but yes you can change whats displayed in middle of rev and speedo independent of whats shown in between them both.

I don't think you can change any of the clock setups - each "view" has canned options. Great if you can find a view you like, not so great if you want something else.

The only bit you can change is what is displayed between the dials, just like the old MFD on the Mk7 analogue dash display. The only new thing you can get between the dials is the map from the nav system. If you have basic nav, you choose between it being on the MIB or the AID. If you have NavPro, you can have it on both at the same time and in fact different views on each - I have a 1 mile zoom on the MIB and 200 metres on the AID for junction navigation.

Yeah think there are a number of set options for in each dial, not been through them all.

I have basic nav and can have turn options on the main screen and a map on the AID which you can then zoom in and out on as required.

AID is good but by no means perfect. Do I prefer it to normal dials? Definitely.

I agree with Tony - the white fuel needle against white tick marks is not as clear to see - it could have been better configured, but generally I do like the AID!
