I've just seen a brand new yellow gold R in the flesh... Wow it looks fantastic!

They had one in Crewe vw the other week , with black mirrors and 90% tinted glass

Don't 'dislike' it, but not for me as will stand out more than I'd like, but for sure they will sell a few once seen on the road. Quite adventurous of VW to make it available set's it apart from the staid boring colours. Too in your face for an R IMO.
And maybe nicer on an R-Line?

This was on the road with 19's. It really looked simply stunning.

I don't dislike it and I'm sure it'd look great on a bright sunny day when the car is gleaming. But how many of those days do we get in this part of the world?

For me it's probably just too showy and fad-like, very much a marmite colour that could hurt the residuals of the car too.

A mate of mine has just bought one for his wife. 5 door with 19's, 90% tints and a sunroof. He's wrapped the back half of the roof like I've had mine done. It's got silver mirrors, but he has another set of covers painted ready to go on. I think it looks great... but for someone else. I couldn't have one myself.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
