A bit late to the party probably as I've avoided paying attention to pedal boxes before due to having a remap. However it just dawned on me that perhaps a pedal box and remap could be perfect partners - does the pedal box just adjust the pedal itself or is it more involved? Anyone tried it with an ECU flash?
The pedalbox actually works even better with mapped cars. The ECU remap (or tuning box) doesn't remove the dead inch of travel in the throttle pedal, no remap does and I posted up a disagreement with one of the most highly regarded tuners of Golf R's I had on VWROC on here in another thread recently. I've since spoken to a member of VWROC who lives fairly locally to me who has had one of their maps and he still runs the pedalbox, albeit on a more gentle setting. Ignore what tuners say, they spend too much time with cars on rollers analysing EGT's, ignition advance and 3D maps not driving them in real world conditions, the ECU map and throttle pedal dead zone are not linked.
When you think about it, there's an initial pedal induced lag, then you hit peak spool on a remapped car which is a far less muted turbo spool than a factory standard grandma friendly map.
The pedalbox takes out that dead inch of travel which means you can drive the car through the turbo spool using your foot as the modulator of throttle to make much smoother and more responsive progress. Or very jerky progress if your pedalbox is set to Sport plus!
