Knocking on Launch

Ho guys,

I have a Golf GTI PP 2014 which I've owned since new.

have a problem i need a second opinion on.  Took my car in for its MOT and asked the garage to check a knocking noise that only happens when you launch in 1st gear as my warranty was close on expiring -  it sounds like the gearbox is going to fall off. Technician said he couldn't find anything and perhaps it was that my tyres had low tread and the traction control was overcompensating. well Ive had 2 new Conti CS 5 fitted and still have the problem.  However my warranty has now expired    Any thoughts? Also noticed the traction control switch on the centre console doesn't light up when selected - should it?

Do you mean wheel tramp? As in the wheel hops when you accelerate hard in first? If so there is nothing wrong, that is what happens as the engine and gearbox move. You can stop it by fitting a dogbone insert.

My car doesn't  have this system, but i suppose what i mean is launching the car from traffic lights.  suppose ive probably done it 4/5 times in the 3.5 yrs of ownership

wheel hop well if that's what it is when there's a banging noise in first to second gear yes.  I've had it since new - was thinking of getting the dealer to check the dogmount insert etc.  Anyone replaced theres - don't want to have loads of vibration though if i upgrade.
