On the way to work this morning at 6.00am, when passing the driveway of one of my neighbours half way down the road, saw his car (the black Ford Kuga) coming out. Had no where to move as the silly c*w that lives opposite him leaves her car on road (and her driveway completely empty), and it's a narrow cul-de-sac. Hit the horn and braked heavily (all in one action) but to no avail, and he didn't see me and reversed out into my car. To be fair, with the fact he has a huge 10ft bush at the end of his drive and the car opposite, his view was completely blocked, but his fault none the less (which he admitted - let's hope he sticks to that) !
Here's the scene - you can just see in the bottom left the neighbours red A-Class in the road.

Resultant damage - gutted to say the least - my first accident in nearly 20 years - and not my bloody fault !!!

This ones a bit harder to see but he's also put a dent in the leading edge of the door as well.

Initially thought the alloy had escaped, but at lunch (when it was lighter), I attempted to clean the wheel to see for any damage, and slivers of what I can only assume are lacquer came off on the cloth. There definably are some marks on the alloy that weren't there before, so can only assume his bumper has removed the lacquer ? You can see the mark across the right hand spoke in the below picture, with a similar mark on the next spoke (2nd photo).

Not sure what they will do with the Santiago's, but I'll make damn well sure it's up to scratch (no pun intended) be they replace it or polish it and re-lacquer it. Also will need to get them to check the tracking, as whilst the car "feels" fine and doesn't seem to be pulling to one side, a knock on the wheel means I want it checking.
I decided to give the VW Ensurance a go, and to be fair they were pretty good. Took my details, then called me back about 45 mins later to say they had contacted direct line (my insurers) and they were fully aware. They then checked to find a VW Approved body shop in my area (which as it happens is only about 5 miles up the road from me).
The body shop called me 30 minutes later to agree a time for me to take the car down for a viewing and they will then produce a quote for direct line, and subject to approval (they did say, direct line might want to send out their own assessor), will book the car in to get the work done.
I know compared to some on here this is pretty minor damage, but I've kept the car absolutely mint (and cost me a lot of money) so to say I'm absolutely gutted is an underestimation !
