DIY Windscreen Repair Kit yes or no?
« on: 31 August 2017, 18:11 »
Anyone ever used a DIY windscreen repair kit? Are they any good. Is it best to just get professionals to have a look? Just come back in from a run down to Pickering and on the way back heard a stone hit the windscreen but couldn't see because of the rain. Got home and cleaned screen to find a tiny minute piece of glass had come out on my cloth. Chip isn't too bad but thinking it may be worth doing before the winter comes. I've got a pick but can't remember how to post them

Is there a charge to have it done by a professional via car insurance?

It's just below my viewing line so it'll more than likely bug me until it's either repaired or replaced. Just hope they don't crack the glass like on mk5 golf!!

It depends on who your insurer is. There's usually a small excess for glass repairs; less than the excess for windscreen replacement though. Glass repairs or replacement shouldn't affect your no claims discount.
