You can also get these http://www.vcdssydney.com/store/p9/Mk7_Dynamic_Aftermarket_Tail_Lights.html but at 800A$ it's not cheep.

Can you? They probably don't have e mark so can't go on car legally. Doubt you (i.e. the manufacturer) could get approval, if they are sold in Oz most likely won't have EU (or rather ECE if someone thinks Brexit will 'fix' this) obligatory rear fog lights.

You sound like someone that is butthurt about last year's vote

Anyone know if the 'pace car' indicators that you can enable on OBDeleven are road legal? I'm guessing not...

I've read on another forum or facebook page, I can't remember which, that they are illegal in the UK.

More like Facebook page as they are usually full of BS. Not had problems with MOT or Police and had them for 2 years. What law do they supposedly break exactly can you remember it said?

All lights fitted to cars have to have a type approval mark after a certain date, 2014 I think, it's often E11 in a circle, for UK, different numbers for different European countries.  Lots of aftermarket lights, although they work perfectly well and do what they are meant to, are not technically legal unless they carry this mark and hence have been through the type approval process to gain the mark.

Just be clear, I am talking about pace car setting indicators and not dynamic indicators.  I doubt whether many Police or MOT testers would know the minute detail of indicator law, but I think it was something to do with a section flashing right, then a section flashing left etc..  Any movement, apparently, has to be in the same direction.

I am indeed talking these....

They flash inner to outer and only one side flashes on the car when indicating. If anything they stand out more than the dynamic ones so people know at a glance where you are going. The dynamic ones are not on as much as half the time the light bar is filling up. I noticed that with my Dynablink mirror repeaters.

Yep, that's them.  So looking at say the left side one.  The outside section flashes, followed by the inside section, then to the outside again etc. so in effect the indicator is flashing left, right, left, right etc. and that, allegedly, is the problem.  Of course, it could be internet bollox!

how they flash is irrelevant if they aren't E marked, as the coding to the car could be changed to make them flash however the manufacturer or third party wants.  Secondary to that it may fail an Mot on the number of flashes per second, but I don't know.  Basically if it isn't E marked, it isn't technically legal for U.K. Road use.
